Ministry Areas
Below we have our list of eleven areas of ministry. Each member indicates their interest in being involved in the conversation and decision-making process regarding the specific area and your desire to support it with time and energy. It does not necessarily mean they are signing up only as a volunteer.
For example: Can I still be in a choir even if I don't select the Music & Worship area? The answer is yes! The discussion of music-related topics will happen in the group. They might help organize the choir or choose music, but participation in the choir is of course open to anyone in the congregation who would like to participate!
All confirmed members are invited and encouraged to fill out this form to be a part of these important discussions!
Outreach
Invite, invite, invite! We want people to visit our church but they can't visit if they don't know about us! What events might encourage members to invite their friends? How can we reach out to our community? How can we connect with our school families? These are the questions we will consider as we reach out to those about Jesus!
Welcoming Team
What happens when people walk through the doors of our church for the first time? What do they notice? How are they greeted? Do they know what to do? Do they feel welcomed and in the right place? What happens after they visit us? What happens when they become members? How are they welcomed then? This team puts themselves in the mind of a visitor and considers their journey into our family at St. Peter.
Music & Worship
Choir, band, instrumentalists, soloists, worship music style, hymnals, etc. All things music! We can also discuss pertinent worship topics in this group as well.
Altar Guild
Is there enough bread and wine for communion? Is everything cleaned up after church? Are the candles filled with oil? Ashes for Ash Wednesday? Palms for Palm Sunday? Poinsettias for Christmas? Lilies for Easter? Do the vestments match the liturgical season? Who takes care of these important and necessary aspects of our Sunday services? This group will also work with the Welcoming team to make sure everything is ready for worship!
Food & Fellowship
At St. Peter we love to eat and have meals together. This group helps organize not only the fellowship meals we have on Easter or Thanksgiving and other holidays, but also snacks, refreshments, and coffee as well as cake receptions. They work with volunteers to make sure everything is organized and ready for preparation, meal service, and clean-up.
Technology
Projectors, live-stream, Audio/Video, Social media, Facebook, website, church apps, Church at Home. All things technology!
Inreach & Member Care
Do you love reaching out to someone you haven't seen in a while? Do you love to send notes of encouragement, birthday greetings, or cards? Or just dropping by to say hi! Maybe you love social events like ladies' night or St. Peter's night out! This group is all about staying connected not only with each other but also to the blessings God gives us through his Word and Sacraments! Like a family, we show each other that we care!
Discipleship
How do we grow as disciples of Christ? Bible studies, small groups, sermon series, mentoring, coaching, retreats, there are many ways to grow! This group will discuss these things!
Community Service
How can we show Christ-like love to our community? How can we meet their needs just as Jesus continued to meet the needs of those around him? This group considers opportunities such as ESL, food pantry, and other ways we can serve our neighbors!
Youth
Sunday School, VBS, Youth Group, Cradle Roll, quiet bags, children's room, childcare during the service. This group will discuss all things related to youth!
Facilities & Grounds
God has blessed us with 4 buildings on our campus on the corner of 8th and Scott. How can we take care of these blessings as a congregation while also using them optimally and efficiently? Be part of the discussion in this group.
